Saving an Exam

OSDx allows several tests to be performed on the same patient during a single examination session.

How OSDx organises examinations

Every examination session in OSDx is unique and is assigned its own Exam ID. All tests performed during that session are stored under the same Exam ID.

A patient may have several examination sessions on different occasions. Each of these sessions has its own Exam ID, while still belonging to the same patient.

A simple way to think about it:
Imagine each examination session as a house, and each test performed during that examination as a room in the house. The house has one owner — the patient — but the same patient may own many such houses, representing different examination sessions.

When should I save a test?

It is best practice to save each test as soon as you have completed and reviewed it. Click the Save button at the bottom-right of the workspace.

OSDx maintains a temporary session cache, so you can move between completed tests during the same examination even if they have not yet been saved. However, saving each satisfactory test before proceeding to the next test or eye is strongly recommended.

Complete test  →  Review result  →  Save  →  Proceed to next test
If you forget to save: OSDx will prompt you about unsaved test data when you try to leave or close the examination workspace.

Revisiting a test during the same examination

You can return to a previously performed test at any time during the same examination session. Select the appropriate test and eye, and for meibography also select the appropriate lid.

A test that has already been saved can also be revisited, repeated or updated within the same examination session and the new result can then be saved.

Reopening a recent examination

After the examination workspace has been closed, the same examination session can be reopened within 24 hours if you need to modify the examination, including retaking and resaving individual tests.

This allows corrections or repeat measurements to remain part of the same examination session rather than creating a separate examination unnecessarily.
